All About The Three Stooges 2012 Movie

The Three Stooges 2012 movie is finally set to be released after more than a decade in development hell. The movie is directed by the Farrelly Brothers and co-written by them and Mike Cerrone. It stars Chris Diamantopoulos as Moe Howard, Sean Hayes as Larry Fine and Will Sasso as Curly and is set to be released on April 13, 2012 by 20th Century Fox. The Three Stooges also boasts a host of celebrity cameos including Jane Lynch, Larry David, Sofia Vergara, Jennifer Hudson as well as NBA superstar Dwight Howard and the cast of the reality show Jersey Shore.

The Three Stooges is a passion project for the Farrelly Brothers, the directors behind the hit comedies There’s Something About Mary, Dumb and Dumber and Me, Myself and Irene, who have been working to bring the movie to the screen since 2001. Contrary to expectations, The Three Stooges is not a biopic of the classic comedy team but rather updated versions of their classic routines. The movie will reportedly be divided into three segments, each running around 27 minutes, and would have “non-stop” physical comedy. Fans who want to get a taste of what The Three Stooges 2012 film will be like can view the first trailer for the film on the official movie site.

Those expectantly awaiting The Three Stooges movie can help the time pass more quickly by viewing some of the classic Stooges shorts on the various volumes of the Three Stooges Collection on DVD released by Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. Previously, the Three Stooges shorts had been released by RCA Columbia Pictures Home Video on VHS, Beta and Laserdisc formats in thirteen volumes, each of which contained three shorts. These were later re-released by Sony Pictures Entertainment on DVD. However, these releases were criticized by Stooges fans for being poorly organized, as they were based on odd themes (i.e. work, wartime, etc) and featured poor transfers of the shorts.

This time around, however, the Three Stooges Collection on DVD offered all 190 shorts made by the Stooges under Columbia Pictures in the original order of release and uncut and unedited. You can start with Volume One: 1934-1936, which features nineteen classic shorts. The shorts feature the original team of Moe Howard, Larry Fine and Curly Howard, and the contents of the DVD are as follows:

  1. Woman Haters (1934)
  2. Punch Drunks (1934)
  3. Men in Black (1934)
  4. Three Little Pigskins (1934)
  5. Horses’ Collars (1935)
  6. Restless Nights (1935)
  7. Pop Goes the Easel (1935)
  8. Uncivll Warriors (1935)
  9. Pardon My Scotch (1935)
  10. Hoi Polloi (1935)
  11. Three Little Beers (1935)
  12. Ants in the Pantry (1936)
  13. Movie Maniacs (1936)
  14. Half-Shot Shooters (1936)
  15. Disorder in the Court (1936)
  16. A Pain in the Pullman (1936)
  17. False Alarms (1936)
  18. Whoops, I’m An Indian (1936)
  19. Slippery Silks (1936)

The new releases were rapturously met by fans who praised them not only for being fully re-mastered in High Definition video but also organizing them chronologically. The Three Stooges Collection is a good way to get your Stooges fix while counting down to the release of The Three Stooges 2012 movie.
